Those of us who aren't Linux-centric know the truth of this article. Great expectations for cost-savings from Linux are never realized, users become less productive because Linux is just less user-friendly and implementation challenges, don't get me started. I do this stuff for a living and find Linux difficult. End user adoption in significant quantities is not going to happen, ever, until someone makes Linux as easy as ...well, Windows.

A sea of bits
Something to ponder. How will we find our data, Google? Not in its form today. I agree we'll need the artificial intelligence of PC's to sort our data, PC's which will apprehend the text, "see" the pictures and "hear" the music.

Firefox is something that bears watching. My experience shows a lot of sites code for IE and expect ActiveX to be available. How will websites or Firefox respond? Time will tell but Microsoft is not one to let a challenge stand.
